4DK Y5

I can joke about it now, but when I started 4DK, there were fears that it might tear a hole in the atmosphere and destroy all life on the planet. From this vantage point, five years later, I can only conclude that the actual damage has been much more insidious and gradual.

Yes, it's true -- and no less so for having just occurred to me this morning -- it was exactly five years ago today that I tentatively nudged my first humble post into a cold and uncaring world, only to have it blossom into the bloated Necronomicon of arcane cinematic knowledge that you see obscenely unfurling before you. Indeed, the ensuing years have seen 4DK gain all the wisdom, discipline and continence of an actual human five year old. And in light of that, I want to thank all of you for your continuing patience, feedback, and support. I hope that the experience has been at least half as enjoyable for you as it has been for me.

Congratulations, Todd! I'm sure the Suzzanna-shaped mole now growing on my arm has nothing at all to do with your pernicious influence.

Thanks, Denis! My only cause for concern is that you don't have a corresponding Barry Prima shaped mole growing on your other arm.

Congrats! Remember that the 5th Anniversary is the Rubber Monster Anniversary, thanks to the cartel that controls the Rubber Monster trade. Make sure your Rubber Monsters are ARM certified Cruelty-Free!

... sorry ... I'm still a little hypnotized by that disturbingly pleasurable (or is it pleasurably disturbing) cat dance.

Long live 4DK! May your twisted words continue to infect the minds of foolhardy thrill-seekers.

Tars: You mean no rubber monsters can be harmed in the making of my rubber monsters? Thanks, Obama!

Dave: Thank you! You know, I was originally looking for a shot from the Sugarcubes' "Birthday" video, but who can pass up Bjork dancing with a person sized cat?

Happy birthday! Seems like just yesterday that I stumbled here by accident and spent the next two months reading three years of archives. And here you are all ready for kindergarten already.

best obscure movie review site on the internet! i never miss a post.

Mr. Cavin, Prof: Thanks to both of you for your continued readership and consistently thoughtful -- and occasionally, as now, wildly flattering -- comments. I know that it's the smell of fresh biscuits that brings people to 4DK, but it's nice to know that some of you stay for my unflinching examination of Badar Munir movies.

I love that you are grateful for being introduced to Daigoro vs. Goliath. Hey, I'll take it! You could only be a 4DK reader, and I humbly and sincerely thank you for that.

Congratulations, and thank you for 4DK and the Lucha Diaries. I'd hesitate to say you've improved my viewing habits, but you've certainly altered them in very noticeable ways . . .

Todd said...

Thank you, Tom... and you're welcome! I guess I should also apologize to your friends and loved ones who've had to witness those "alterations" you mentioned. Tell them that you are not changing, but "becoming". That's sure to put their minds at rest.

Congrats on the five years, Todd!! I look forward to the next five. And I love that you write about what nobody else does! And if you could just get Steve Mayhem back it would be wunderbar!

Todd said...

Thanks, Jack! I fear that Steve may have fallen prey to some vengeful cowgirls, but if I hear from him I'll give him your best.
