Making Peace With World Pop Cinema
(A Lucha Diaries Companion)
Thank you! Oh how I love this song! Silly as it is, it can sometimes bring tears to my eyes. The line "woke up...and my mama was gone", probably because I first heard it when I was 11 years old. It was briefly popular in another version and played on the radio through that summer. I would never have guessed the title though, and for years and years never heard it again. Rediscovered it in a convoluted way.. one of Bappi Lahiri's songs from "Tarzan" was said to have borrowed from "Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep". Listened to that song one day, and yes there it was, the long lost tune!
ZOMG, is there nothing that Bappi Lahiri won't rip off? Glad you enjoyed this one. I actually first heard it in the Neil Jordan movie Breakfast on Pluto and subsequently became obsessed with it.
