Fighting Femmes, Fiends, and Fanatics Episode 2: The Fantastic Argoman
Here, as promised, is the second installment of Steve Mayhem's Fighting Femmes, Fiends, and Fanatics, this time guest hosted by yours truly. The subject: One of my favorite Italian costumed hero misadventures from the 60s, The Fantastic Argoman.
Yeah, Diabolik would certainly be up there, along with a few other Bava films: The spaceship in Planet of the Vampires, the house in 5 Dolls For an August Moon. I think Barbarella would have to be in there, too. I'll have to give it some more thought. In the interim, I'd love to hear other people's suggestions.
I can't say I'm an expert on "movies with groovy production values" (well, I could but it wouldn't be true, haha) but your episode was certainly pretty cool, Todd. Kudos! I've actually got The Fantastic Argoman on an unwatched VHS somewhere. Your video has certainly made me want to dust it off and give it a spin!
Btw, in the video you mention different versions of the film, can you please elaborate a little on this? The Something Weird Video tape contains an alternative edit, is that right?
Gladly, Jack. The version of Argoman that I have (on the Substance DVD) features a prologue in which Argoman outwits a Chinese firing squad by hypnotizing them into firing on one another. The version of Incredible Paris Incident that's on the SWV tape skips that prologue. Because of that, we don't really get an introduction to Argoman, and when he shows up, quite a ways into the film's running time, it's a bit of a surprise.
Classic low budget films made in Italy includes scifi comedy fantasy action/adventure/western/detective and intrigue tales includes fighting ladies argoman James tont and other Italian movies made in Europe became popular at that time like other American and European influences into popular stories of all time and remains all over the world.thanks for the information.from:Wayne
