No fan of Toofan

When Keith over at Teleport City says jump, I say "How high?" So when Keith asked me to review the 1989 Amitabh Bachchan superhero masala Toofan, I agreed, even though I had already seen the film and knew that, despite that one amazing clip on YouTube, it was a bit of a steamer. Still it's not without its points of interest. For one thing, it's one of the first films that Bachchan made after his disastrous venture into Indian parliamentary politics, at a time when the sheen of superstardom was rapidly fading and he desperately needed a hit. Needless to say, Toofan would not be that hit. Read my full review here.

  1. You and me both. Quite the personal army he's got going on.

Mucho thanks for the link! I can't wait to dig into all your Indian posts.

    cheers

  2. Man, I wanted to re-read this one and apparently it has just up and disappeared from the site, along with a bunch of other old reviews. Where the hell am I supposed to get appropriately-sassy commentary on Bachchan's politics now?

  3. Teleport City is in a bit of a transition period right now -- going through the tortuous process of moving to a new location -- but all of the old articles and reviews will be reinstated within good time. I apologize for the lapse in service.

PLEASE NOTE: I do not sell, trade, upload or otherwise provide copies of the films that I review on this site, so please don’t ask.

Please, no questions about where to download films or subtitle files. If you are asking about the availability of a reviewed film on DVD, please make sure that you have first conducted a simple search of the film’s title on Google, eBay, and Amazon. That usually works for me.

Everyone else, BRING IT ON!
